AFCI breaker

A breaker that detects dangerous electrical arcing and shuts the circuit off.

An Arc-Fault Circuit Interrupter watches for the erratic electrical 'arcing' that frays cords and loose connections create — a leading ignition source for house fires. Modern codes require them on most living-area circuits. If one trips repeatedly, that's a signal to call an electrician, not just reset and forget it.
