Home inventory

A documented list of your belongings and home systems, with details for insurance and upkeep.

A home inventory is a record of what you own and the systems in your home — model and serial numbers, purchase dates, photos, and warranties. Its first purpose is insurance: after a fire, flood, or theft, an inventory is what lets you prove what you had and file a complete claim. Its second purpose is maintenance: knowing the age and model of each system tells you what's due and what's nearing the end of its service life.
