GFCI outlet
A shock-protection outlet (the kind with TEST/RESET buttons) required near water.
A Ground-Fault Circuit Interrupter cuts power in a fraction of a second if it senses electricity leaking to ground — like through you. They're the outlets with little TEST and RESET buttons, and code requires them in kitchens, bathrooms, garages, and outdoors. Press TEST monthly; if RESET doesn't pop the power back, the outlet is dead and should be replaced.
