Soffit
The underside of your roof's overhang, usually vented for airflow.
The soffit is the finished underside of the roof overhang where it extends past the exterior wall. Soffits are usually vented to let air flow into the attic, which keeps it dry and helps prevent ice dams and rot. Blocked or damaged soffit vents trap heat and moisture in the attic. Keep them clear and watch for pest intrusion or peeling.
