Who we are

Owner Tools ("Owner Tools," "we," "us," or "our") operates the website at owner.tools and the related home-maintenance services. For any privacy question, contact us at hello@owner.tools. This notice describes how we handle personal data for visitors and account holders worldwide.

What we collect

• Home details you enter. Property type, approximate age, climate or region, and the systems or concerns you tell us about. We use these to generate your maintenance plan. We never ask for your full street address.
• Account information. If you create an account, we store your email address and authentication details so you can sign in and access saved data.
• Subscription and billing data. When you buy a paid plan, payment is processed by Paddle, our merchant of record (see below). We receive your plan, billing status, and the country/region used for tax — but we do not receive or store your full card number.
• Content you save (paid plans). Documents, warranties, receipts, manuals, home inventory items, and task history you choose to store with us.
• Technical and usage data. Standard server logs, device and browser type, and privacy-respecting analytics that help us keep the service reliable and improve it.

How we use your data

• To generate and display your personalized maintenance plan.
• To provide your account, store the content you save, and send the reminders you opt into.
• To process subscriptions, taxes, and refunds through our payment provider.
• To operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the service.
• To send essential service messages (for example, billing receipts or important account notices).

What we never do

• We never sell your personal data.
• We don't require your full address, and we don't pass your details to contractors or lead-generation networks.
• We don't sell warranties or share your data to do so.

Legal bases for processing

Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, we process personal data on the basis of: performance of a contract (to provide the service you request), legitimate interests (to secure and improve the service), consent (for optional communications or non-essential cookies, where applicable), and legal obligation (for example, tax and accounting records).

Sharing and processors

We share data only with service providers who help us run Owner Tools, under agreements that limit their use of it:

• Paddle — payment processing and merchant of record for all subscriptions and refunds.
• Hosting and infrastructure providers — to run the application and store your data securely.
• Email delivery — to send transactional messages and the reminders you opt into.

We may also disclose data if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of Owner Tools and its users.

International transfers

We and our providers may process data in countries other than your own. Where required, transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

Data retention

We keep account and saved content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account or specific content, we remove it from active systems and from backups on our routine backup cycle. Anonymous plans generated without an account are not stored. We retain billing records for as long as the law requires.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. Paid plans include data export so you can take your data anytime. To exercise any right, email hello@owner.tools. You also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.

Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies that are strictly necessary to run the site (such as keeping you signed in) and a limited set for privacy-respecting analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

Children

Owner Tools is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to this notice

We may update this notice from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "last updated" date above, and for material changes we'll provide a more prominent notice.
